State Controlled Terrorism

Terrorism. That seems to be the word of the moment following the colossally horrific act of violence the world watched during the Boston Marathon.

Our nation is filled with terroristic acts from bombing abortion clinics, to sending poison through the mail, to assault “rifling” an elementary school. The United States is overrun with perverts and sociopaths.

To define the word terrorism: the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.

The United States engages in terrorism on a regular basis. Our government has legitimized the use of terrorism through its state run acts of aggression against nation states, its people, and through its behavior.

We just learned, and this was no surprise, that the Bush administration’s deniers of torture were liars.

The problem is that the U.S. engages in violent acts of terrorism, yet we also have to acknowledge that the U.S. government has legitimized non-lethal force of terrorism, which is used to intimidate or coerce for specifically defined political purposes.

It begins with the radical right-wingers on the Supreme Court, which through their legal decisions have created their own version of non-lethal violence against average Americans. Citizens United is a significant decision that unleashed extraordinary amounts of money into campaigns and into advertising that is in itself violence against the average American’s way of life. When billions of dollars are handed out to political candidates that address the mandates authorized by the corporate elite, we have a plutocracy that orders how the country runs its policies and laws.

Citizens United funds influential “think tanks” and lobbyists to roam the halls of Congress muscling the people’s representatives to write legislation that is in the best interests of the corporate elite and the 1%. And, we have lobbyists, such as those hired by the NRA, who manipulate, coerce, and intimidate for political purposes. That is terrorism.

President Obama spoke about how terrorism cannot keep the will of the American people down, and how he will authorize whatever it takes to find the actors, yet he has not done a darn thing to stop the non-lethal form of terrorism unleashed by the megabankstas, the NRA, the Religious Right, the Tea Party, and those in Congress that are hell-bent on controlling women all over this nation through the closing down of women’s health clinics that discuss abortions, or do nothing when American jobs are sent overseas to countries that exploit workers.

The White House, the Congress, the Pentagon, the Supreme Court and all the others spend a great deal of time oppressing hard working people through their non-lethal forms of terrorism. The issue here is just how dulled the American people have become to what has actually been done to them. They accept it. The only form of terrorism that upsets them is the violent type that we saw at Newtown, and now in Boston, yet don’t even put the pressure on their legislators to do anything about it. Only until the violence comes knocking on their door do they open their mouths.

People cringe when they see innocent people mowed down for no apparent reason, yet there are reasons, although insane, that exist. The White Supremacists have their insane reasons; the radical Christian right have their insane reasons; the radical Israeli right have their insane reasons; the radical Muslim right have their insane reasons; the radical Tea Party have their insane reasons. The corporate elite have their insane reasons. Insane reasons are everywhere. The United States is filled with perverts and sociopaths.

Sadly, it will never end until the American people take back their government from the perverts and sociopaths that walk the halls of Congress—especially Congress, and stop accepting dangerous Supreme Court nutcases that should have never been allowed to sit on the bench for the rest of their lives!!!

"take back their government" sounds like the tea baggers insisting on taking back their America..Last time I looked it was "we the people" not one faction or another wanting control or dominance believing they could determine and put an end to the them/us mentality. Maybe we also need a new president who doesn't send drones to kill blindly and doesn't support a lack of transparency and who would have had the balls to push for single payer first day in the "big house". In the end the goal I support is a platform of education and information on a grass roots level from the likes of Saul Alinsky best known for his book Rules of Radicals and Paulo Freire best known for his influential work, Pedagogy of the Oppressed.

Sure -- take back our government" is a phrase used by the Teabaggers, but now, we need to use the phrase to take back our government from them, who have hijacked it to further their own version of oppression upon Americans.

Yes--the drone program is ugly and should not be the tool-of-the-day to kill others. It allows a separation between a real human action from a machine action.

Having single payer is, of course, the best choice--Medicare for All, but sadly we have Teabaggers and right wing radicals controlling our government. Such policies will never get into law with such regressives controlling our Congress.

Good luck with your grassroots efforts. One needs to begin with the working class voters who continue to vote Tea Party, and Republican instead of against their own best interests.

this is the point i was making>>>

Speaking as if you know what SHOULD be done and offer little to know plan how to get it done.. Grass roots efforts elected Obama and education of people moves them to act in their best interests.. NOT politicians, including our president

PS: it was democrats who also stone walled single payer.. And the president never proposed it..

As we see time and time again, some Democrats, and all Republicans do what they can to create more problems than solutions. We just witnessed some Democrats, and mostly all Republicans reject universal background checks for all gun sales. Even with person-to-person sales being exempt, it would not pass! This legislation was not as radical as single payer, yet our Congressional operatives (they should not be called representatives) are afraid of not getting re-elected (a major reason for term limits).

All the grassroots movements have not been able to get term limits, single payer, etc.

The lobbyists are too powerful; there is too much money in politics (Citizens United and SuperPacs).

Yes, the Obama ground game got him elected because it was organized and paid for by his campaign donors. It was a big effort. There is no huge movement that appears to push a progressive agenda that can be sustained. Even the "99%" Occupy movement could not be maintained. There was not enough cross-over support, especially by working class Republican voters. These voters continue to vote into office the most regressive people to run their governments.

And, don't forget just how damaging redistricting has become for Democrats.

There is a lot that SHOULD be done and very little that is actually being done.

I believe that creating progressive Superpacs that specifically address replacing regressive operatives in Congress, ejecting Citizen's United, and other power plays. Since Superpacs can keep their donors secretive, I say play the same game the Republicans play with Superpacs.

Never walked away from a good fight for a good cause yet there is a moment when one might say "they got what they wanted" and even if it is mediocracy or bought votes or devious out spending they drank the drink and voted the vote. So most likely the changing of minds is an uphill struggle I remain of the belief that them/us mentality vs allowing for the fact that even after we elected "our" president we still have lost the fight.. Maybe we need a period of no fighting; rather more listening to why someone would shot themselves in the foot ignoring information. The change, i believe, that is needed is within ourselves so that we become the messenger not the enemy.

Anonymous--you have made several excellent points!

You are so right when pointing out that people make choices even when they are drinking the Kool-Aid laced with poison. This nation is filled with fear, hate and paranoia.

As a person who gives up smoking after decades of smoking and becomes a mouthpiece for quitting, the kool-Aid drinkers must come to the right change on their own.

All we can do is be the conduit for change. We have to try and live the change ourselves.
