President Obama’s Crackdown on Airport Security

It is being leaked by the TSA (Transportation Security Agency) that in the next several weeks a plan will be unveiled regarding passenger check-in procedures. They are projecting that this new plan will eliminate any confusion when identifying a potential jock strap, or thong-wearing bomb igniting terrorist. The agency feels these new changes will simplify check-in procedures, and the boarding process.

The new plan will be tested in only a few undisclosed airports around the country. It may actually be tried out in one or two foreign national airports, as well.

What air travelers will receive when they check their bags and receive their boarding passes will be a special tote. One similar to what one might get when they contribute to their local public television or radio station. Then they will proceed to a changing area near the check-in location. Once they enter the changing area, they will go into what looks like a department store changing room. It will have a mirror, a bench to sit on, some hooks and a suspended rack to attach the tote handles, so we can easily place our clothing items inside it with as little effort as possible. Oh, how I love how fun air travel can be!!

All passengers will be required to remove all their clothing and put on what looks like a hospital gown. They will be allowed to keep their undergarments on, as well as socks. Over their feet they will be told to put on scrubs-like booties over their socks. Then they will place their tote filled with their clothing items onto an x-ray conveyor belt for examination.

Next, all passengers will walk through the metal detector most often without a hitch, unless they personally contain metal body parts and joints. That will be easy to detect, anyway.

All passengers will then carry their tote bags, with their names and flight data attached to the bags not unlike a hospital wrist ID. How fun!!! Everyone will look the same!!! Every traveler, no matter how rich or poor, will all look the same except for fashion eye wear, and hair styles. It will be like wearing a uniform to school. How cool.

Once you get to the boarding area, all totes will be placed into a hamper, which will be loaded onto the plane. How much safer can it get? Fly the friendly skies with Obama! Now that is a great slogan.

President Obama, in just a matter of days has taken a failed Bush administration process, and made it successful!!! President Obama did not waste a second removing the Jihadi terror threat from our soil. Now, if only he had taken such swift and dynamic action to remove the financial and economic terror threat presented to us by those inside Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, and the rest, then the country would be in a much better way.

Unfortunately, our president does not see a financial and economic terror threat inside the United States, but on the contrary, appears to have felt that the mega-bankers have been victimized by hapless Americans who stupidly and foolishly fell for what was really supposed to a joke. You know, something like an April Fool’s joke where an unemployed person walks into a big bank, such as National City Bank of Pittsburgh, now defunct, and asks for a $200,000 loan to buy his Uncle John’s suburban home because Uncle John wants to buy a condo in South Miami beach, since he has been widowed for around 10 years and understands that there are lots of silver-haired single ladies waiting for Uncle John types to move in next door.

What he could look forward to is being asked to homemade dinners, such as lasagna, or pirogues, or tofu stews. He is not a very picky eater. Such a life actually sounds great to Uncle John, so he offers his nephew, the unemployed auto salesman, a chance to buy his nice Ryan home.

So, when the nephew walks into National City and is told to just sign on the dotted line and he can get a mortgage loan for 30 years with a ballooning interest rate, he says to the banker how much he loves balloons and will happily sign. Unfortunately, the nephew did not realize that the balloons he was told about are not the same ones that were used to decorate the auto show room. It was a joke, dude. Just a joke.

Oh well. President Obama thought it was funny when he was just a freshman senator from Illinois. Well, he was told to laugh by the Democratic leadership. They said, “Barack, just laugh when we say so.” And he did. But now, he is not laughing because the mega-bankers like Mr. Lordie Lordie Blankfein ended up with lots of bad mortgage loans that really weren’t supposed to be on his balance sheets. He and his banker pals wanted to make the joke last a real long time so they decided to wrap all the good, the bad and the ugly mortgage loans into what might look like a Taco Bell burrito filled with beef, cheese, beans, lettuce, and maybe poison green onions. HA, HA!

They these funny bankers sold off all the slices of these burritos, since they told other rich guys around the world how good they tasted. It was a joke, man. Don’t be so stupid as to eat those slices, or tranches as they were called in the business. The bankers thought their joke was so funny, they decided to bet that their customers would get sick and die.

But what happened was that these bankers, themselves got toxic poisoning, and were vomiting and pooping for many, many months. They got so sick that they called Little Boy Bush, Hankie the Pankie Paulson, and Bennie the Beard Bernanke to ask for a Public Option to be issued by Congress to the tune of $700 billion so they could get some sort of universal health care, no I mean universal financial care paid for by the public, who ended up with the joke crashing down on them to the tune of $12 trillion.

Boy, how could our hapless and dump fellow citizens fall for such a joke? But, President Obama was more concerned with the excessive vomiting and diarrhea of the bankers and did not want them to suffer very much, so he offered them an endless amount of Obama Care.

So, what we have now are very rich and cared for bankers, fat and happy with the social programs they were given. Maybe in 2010 the rest of us can get some Obama Care, but I doubt it.

Thanks for reading, jerry

Geithner’s New York Fed Told AIG to Limit Swaps Disclosure

Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, then led by Timothy Geithner, told American International Group Inc. to withhold details from the public about the bailed-out insurer’s payments to banks during the depths of the financial crisis, e-mails between the company and its regulator show.

AIG said in a draft of a regulatory filing that the insurer paid banks, which included Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Societe Generale SA, 100 cents on the dollar for credit-default swaps they bought from the firm. The New York Fed crossed out the reference, according to the e-mails, and AIG excluded the language when the filing was made public on Dec. 24, 2008. The e-mails were obtained by Representative Darrell Issa, ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The New York Fed took over negotiations between AIG and the banks in November 2008 as losses on the swaps, which were contracts tied to subprime home loans, threatened to swamp the insurer weeks after its taxpayer-funded rescue. The regulator decided that Goldman Sachs and more than a dozen banks would be fully repaid for $62.1 billion of the swaps, prompting lawmakers to call the AIG rescue a “backdoor bailout” of financial firms.

“It appears that the New York Fed deliberately pressured AIG to restrict and delay the disclosure of important information,” said Issa, a California Republican. Taxpayers “deserve full and complete disclosure under our nation’s securities laws, not the withholding of politically inconvenient information.” President Barack Obama selected Geithner as Treasury secretary, a post he took last year.

Hi Spectre,

Geithner is a financial crime syndicate soldier recruited from GS.

Obama took him on. Now, he is responsible for perpetuating the financial crimes bringing down nearly every state economy in the nation.

Yes! Where are the handcuffs? Not only for him, but Summers, too.

An actual and important memo regarding the NY FED (GEITHNER) and AIG. This came from The Mess That Greenspan Made:

"but what you see below is the key section regarding the New York Fed's actions in late-2008 after AIG officials wanted to disclose in regulatory filings that they had been paying counterparties such as Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch full value for CDOs (collateralized debt obligations)."

America Rising An Open Letter to Democrat Politicians

Hi Spectre,

I just don't agree with that Youtube propaganda tool called America Rising. Nearly all the Flash words shown in the video were brought to us by Little Boy Bush and before the election. So the trust and socialism part to me doesn't mix.

Bush, and those before him brought us corporate welfare programs. Now Americans are suffering. I DO support social programs for working people. I DO support a universal healthcare program. I DO support social security. I DO support not-for-profit health entities to compete with the greedy and destructive health care corporations.

The TARP, bailouts, fall of Lehman, and BearS were all under Bush/Cheney.

I could see that that video had to be created by the Stone Age party called the GOP.

I cannot believe that voting against Democrats and restoring the 30-years of stone age rule that drove down wages, inflated asset values, created financial bubbles, drove jobs overseas, stole from the social security trust fund, forced workers into bankruptcy and foreclosures, supported the rise of a corporate oligarchy, drove America into two wars, and the fake war on terror, would do the nation well, These are all hopes to gain power by the GOP, once again, to destroy the American worker, once and for all by forcing them into surfdom.

I do not believe that bringing back the Stone Age Republican Party is a positive move.

Believe me, Spectre, the social programs of Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Finland, Canada and other nations have allowed those economies to prosper and not self-destruct as it has here.

I am sorry that this Teabagging group don't get it. Yes, Obama has moved in a direction that I object to. And yes, I don't like the continued failure of our Congress, but what we all have been given over the past 30 years is a heck of a lot worse.

I could not support the Stone Age party.

thanks, jerry

SPECTRE of Deflation said...

Jerry, I don't deal with this Party or that. It allows them to do my thinking for me instead of thinking for myself. I don't believe in the Republicans anymore than you do. The difference would be that you haven't come to the same conclusion regarding the Democratic Party. Each of us comes to truth in our own time. I wish you luck with your search.

SPECTRE of Deflation said...

And as far as beliefs systems go, I will stick with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, as those are universal freedoms that no man can bestow on me because they are mine to begin with. You told me what you were for, yet freedom wasn't in your list anywhere. You are for things that make us safer for a time, while willingly giving up your God given right of freedom as a trade off. Without freedom you have nothing my friend. Just ask the people of Cuba.

The countries you list by the way are on the road to bankruptcy just as we are. You see it doesn't matter regarding how the money is spent. You can overspend on social services, or you can just give it to the thieving banksters. In either case you are sending money you don't have and can never repay. There are no money trees growing in the woods, so you are left with default in the end. Ask Iceland how they are doing for a look at what's coming for the rest of us.

Anyone who is proud of what either Party is doing to it's citizens needs their head examined. One other thing. When you say, "well yes they did bad but", it stands for Behold the underlying truth. You still support their evil ways.

Hi Spectre,

I appreciate your viewpoints. I agree that both parties are corrupt, at this point, yet at this time, I really do not see the Republicans offering the working person much of anything. The Democrats, at least, have included some elected representatives that do represent working people.

I see that the social support in this country is necessary in order to prevent a total collapse of the society, otherwise there will a quick devolving into a solidly fascist regime, whereby war would be the only result.

In my limited list of socially governed nations, I did not mention Iceland knowing their economic collapse. The others have economies that are doing better than the US economy and will likely continue to do so.

I do believe the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are the backbone of the country, but I believe that the use of the term "freedom" is loosely used. Yes, we have more "freedom" than others, but it is all relative. I really don't believe that the average American has real freedom, and will have much, much less once the country devolves if the social support network gets cut away. I cannot believe that God has bestowed a right for persons to be free. During the time the Bible was written, Jews were slaves of the Pharoah. The Bible does state that God brought the Jews to place where they could be free, yet slavery continued anyway.

I do not support evil ways of anyone-Democrat nor Republican nor Independent. It has been my opinion that the Republican ways are dangerous ways. I see them wanting to return to slavery of the working person by destroying the fabric of the country. I see Democrats, as a whole, ideally wanting to save the middle class, while many have been corrupted by greed.

Anyway, thanks for the dialogue!

This is all happening under a Democratic House, a Democratic Senate and a Democrat in the Oval Office. Time to realize it's the Democrat's f**king you, and the Republicans as scapegoat is wearing thin considering we have spent more under Obama in a year, 100 days actually, than was spent
since day one of the Republic, he has increased by 30,000 troops (+50,000consultants)in Poppy-stan, he brought no troops home from Iraq, and provided no transparancy in the Healthcare Debate as he had previously promised (8 times). I could go on, but it's time to move on regarding what Bush did. This President is taking away your freedoms faster than Bush ever thought of doing. All this bullshit now rests at the feet of the Democratic Party.

Banks Return to Toxic Assets

Susan Walsh

The government intervened to help banks kick their toxic-asset habit, but has it actually made things worse? Bloomberg writes that, since the government created the Public-Private Investment Program to help banks sell off their most toxic debts, the banks have actually increased their holdings of such debts, like mortgage-backed securities, because the government has made the market so profitable. Six of the seven largest banks, including Bank of America and Citigroup, have increased their holdings of residential mortgage-backed securities. Bank of America added the most of such debts to its trading book, with an increase of $945 million. “It’s absolutely ridiculous,” says the managing director of one consulting firm. “Some of them created this mess, and they are making a killing undoing it.”

Shouldn't Congress Be Required To Have The Same Plan They Want Us On?

HR 615

On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment, courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn which would require all Members of Congress and their staff members to enroll in any new government-run health plan.

Congressman John Fleming has proposed an amendment that would require Congressmen and Senators to take the same health care plan that they would force on us. (Under proposed legislation they are exempt.)

Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go to his Website and sign his petition. The process is very simple. I have done just that at: http://fleming.house.gov/index.html

Senator Coburn and Congressman Fleming are both physicians. Regardless of your political beliefs, it sure seems reasonable that Congress should have exactly the same medical coverage that they impose on the rest of us.

Please urge as many people as you can to do the same.

Jerry, more of the vaulted "change we can believe in". Everyone with an IRA or 401K is about to be screwed out of their retirement. Here's my favorite part of the piece, and thank you Democrats for jack shit. Little man's Party my arse!

Instead of "Yes We Can" the slogan for the Obama Administration should be "Over One Million Fat Cats Served." And the only difference in the Republicans is the breed of the fat cats whose desires they seek to fulfill. The public has lost its advocacy in Washington, and therefore the integrity of the democratic republic is in peril.

08 January 2010
Obama Administration Wants to Annuitize 401k's and IRA's - Mandatory "R Bonds"

As a rule of thumb, the worst possible time to convert lump sum savings into a fixed income annuity would be when interest rates are historically low.

Although products may vary, this is roughly equivalent to buying long term bonds at a time when interest rates are likely to increase, substantially reducing your principal in real terms, and eroding your fixed returns through inflation.

For some reason the Obama Administration is promoting the idea now that there should be some encouragement for Americans to start converting their 401K's and IRA's into annuities, to provide themselves with lifetime income.

The effort is being spear-headed by Mark Iwry of the Treasury and Phyllis Borzi of the Department of Labor. Here is a paper written on the subject by Mark Iwry when he was at the Brookings Institution.

The essence of this paper is that distributions from IRA's and 401K's would automatically be rolled into an annuity providing a monthly income by default.

This concept is known on the Street as the handling fees for meager returns pork barrel pigfest. The Fed likes it because they will undoubtedly get a two year rolling chunk of the people's retirement cash to play with.

Perhaps just rolling those 401K's and IRA's into Social Security or the Long Bond would be what they have in mind. Somehow the panacea of TIPS with inflation defined by the government sounds probable. The drawback perhaps is that this would not generate the highest recurring fees for Wall Street and the FIRE sector, which have to be eyeing that 'cash on the sidelines' hungrily.

How about Patriot Bonds that are fully invested in Mortgage Debt formerly owned by the Fed, with some tranches of Commercial Real Estate to add some zest to the recipe? The Treasury can give this option a small tax break, which can be largely consumed by Wall Street fees and mispricing of risk returns.

And I thought that Greenspan's advice for homeowners to step into ARMs into the knee of the housing bubble was foul.

85,000? We’re Missing a Million of Them!
January 8th, 2010
By David Goldman

No, Virginia: There isn’t a Santa Clause, and even if there is, he didn’t bring an employment recovery for Christmas. But the household data in many ways are far more concerning than the establishment data, which show an 85,000 drop in December payrolls.

A far more disturbing number (in Table A-1 of today’s BLS release) shows that “persons not in the labor force” increased by about 840,000 between November and December, from 83,022 to 83,865. That’s seasonally-adjusted; unadjusted, the number is closer to a million. Correspondingly, the total size of the civilian labor force fell from 153,720 to 153,059 between November and December.

What happened to the million Americans who went missing from the BLS definition of the labor force in the single month of December? They are the “long-term discouraged” or whatever, those whose prospects of finding a job are so poor that they have stopped looking.

Hi Spectre,

Thanks for great reads you have been posting. I agree that these cons in Washington need to be enrolled in any health plan that they dish out to the American people. This goes out to Obama, all the way down to general government employees.
